This is my favorite place. Yes, they get busy and at times the service is slow. However, if you want excellent food, friendly service and, pay attention please, wish to support sole proprietors, this place is an absolute gem. It's imperative we support our small business owners in these uncertain economic times. They are truly in harm's way and are struggling with so many political decisions that directly affect their ability to keep their doors open. So to individuals that are quick to complain that service was slow...etc...please take pause before you write your negative post. Let's support our independent businesses today. as it's the heart and soul of what we should be protecting, versus hating on. Peace.
Salmon sliders and Mimosa!
Rise and Shine is a must in Winter Park, everything is worth trying. The bread is incredible as the corn beef. Portions are large. Thanks Peter, keep up the great work.
Food is ok, my Benedict was bland and they didn't have any other coffee options other than drip coffee. The service was pretty bad and it took forever to get our food. The owner is super annoying and standing at the counter yelling at people and making comments to people who asked when their food would be ready. Avoid this place.
Delicious Breakfast at an afordable price :)
The service here is terrible. I travel frequently and I've been to many restaurants and have never experienced anything like this. They want to pass tarter sauce as remoulade sauce and they got upset with me because I mentioned the sauce was wrong on my sliders. The woman owner didn't even know what it was supposed to look like. The owners were extremely rude and made comments out loud in the restaurant saying "She doesn't like it so she's not paying for it." The other owner says "She can't read?" I've never been more humiliated. I've eaten crab cakes and had remoulade sauce in many places and I know what it tastes like. Even still I was not rude or loud yet both owners made a scene. The food is mediocre at best and my friend was served a hard seemingly day old bagel. There are much better places around with better food and service.
It was chance that brought me here for donuts and an Americano to go. The service was fast. The selection was adequate to feed the sweet tooth fix on an arduous journey up the Rockies. Cute decorations with a bicycle on the wall. The basic Americano proved the right beverage at the right time. It was hot and coffee flavored. It went down smooth and soothing. And, really, smoothly soothing is sometimes the right medicine. Especially when it's coffee related. Indulge in a chocolate sprinkle donut. It's thick and delicious and leaves a grease stain on the paper bag. You'll be glad you did.
Amazing donuts, green chili scramble. Prompt service.
This is my first review EVER. Do not eat here - COPS WERE CALLED!!! We chose this place because it had a short wait. Our food came relatively quick - but my biscuits and gravy were cold. I wasn't going to complain because they were busy but a man came around (who seemed to be the owner) and ask how everything tasted. So I told him and he offered and brought me a half order of biscuits and gravy along with a pastry. I thanked him but they were STILL COLD! We paid and went to leave after hearing a dispute inside (we sat on the patio). Come to find out it was the OWNER YELLING AT A CUSTOMER!! The customer came outside to wait and the owner slammed the door on her. Needless to say the COPS WERE CALLED!! DO NOT EAT HERE! I hate to leave bad reviews but it was a HORRIBLE experience.
We had lunch there today....it was good...we had a crossiant sandwich and the kids had the chocolate chip pancakes...all was good...place is not upscale and kind of felt grungy but the food and service was great. We didn't read reviews before we went and glad we didn't it seemed better than what they said.
If you get the food to go it is great! Summit bagel sandwich and their baked goods are nice before a ski day. The owner makes the place a terrible time to sit at the cafe. He yells at his employees in front of customers and makes the environment not welcoming at all.
The food was good, but the service definitely could be improved. A smile wouldn't hurt. For those of us from out of town and unfamiliar, with the routine, a little patience while explaining the procedure would be wonderful.
Rise and Shine has the best bagels in the Fraser Valley. We make a point to visit at least once a week for a treat!
This place is awesome! Every time I come to Winter Park this is always a must go to. They make fresh soups daily, bagels and so much more. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge. Today I had the biscuits and sausage gravy for 5$ and still had left overs to take back to the condo. My son had the breakfast burrito which was to die for. I took two soups to go with two jalapeno and cheddar bagels which were out of this world! The atmosphere is chill and family friendly.
Just ok. I was looking for baked goods and the items I bought seemed old - chocolate chip cookie was hard as a rock. The other item was unmemorable, I only had a couple bites and then discarded.
This was my first visit to Rise and Shine. I was a little creeped out that it was in a gas station parking lot, but turns out there are several businesses in that little strip. We got a bottle of mimosas that were pretty tasty with the fresh squeezed orange juice. They were also reasonably priced considering the nearby restaurants. It was for me to decide on which food item to go with because I love eggs benedict and they have several options. The lox was also appealing and someone else at our table got it and it looked GOOD! I got the veggie Bennie and it was yummy and also very filling! I enjoyed the freshness of the dish. You definitely get a bang for your buck considering the surrounding businesses and I plan to return!
Awesome breakfast and lunch joint! The food is always delicious and the staff is always having fun and making sure you have everything you need. The best lattes and sweet goodies around too! Bravo Peter and Nicole!
So glad I found this place! Outstanding food and fast service. The eggs Benedict was served on a huge, fresh croissant and the plate was overflowing with breakfast goodness. It has been excellent every time I've stopped in. On the days that I'm in a hurry I get the Summit breakfast sanguich to go. This is what McDonald's breakfast sanguiches WISH they were. The owner was very friendly and greeted every patron warmly.
They make the best donuts this side of the divide. Probably the other side, too. Come early, the filled ones go quick. Prettiest servers in the valley!
Good food, though the servers could be a bit more attentive
Just ate brunch here with my 6 and 8 year old. The owner/manager/worker? stood at the bar having a conversation with several men who were cussing up a storm, F*, S*, while my six year old daughter was listening in. C’mon man up and say something to your customers to tone down the language. Cleanliness-wise, the floors were disgusting. Didn’t even want to rest my muddy Sorels on the floor. What does the kitchen look like? Food less than average. Will NOT be returning.
Was having family time at rise and shine. All was good until the OWNER came outside and started cursing at a person and kicking things around outside. Not something i want my children to see or learn that behavior. The new gyro place next door is much nicer and has way better food and atmosphere. GO THERE!
Delicious food especially breads and bakery! The veggie benedict is amazing. Friendly owner and staff! Love this place!
This place used to be pretty good. Now unless you are friends of owners (in that case they drink mimosas with you) you are ignored, treated like you are an inconvenience. Huge mess behind bar- bagel sandwhiches sub standard at best. Wont go back.
Cute and cozy. Great staff
Bad choice for a stop. Incredible wait while the place was almost empty. Cold coffee handed to us. Overcooked poached eggs. Overall bad.
My order was completely burnt and my boyfriends was ice cold. The service was extremely poor. When we sent my burnt order back we were still charged for it. The waitress was unapologetic and was not helpful at all. The manager was there and never spoke to us, even when it was brought to his attention that my burnt order was sent back and we were still charged for it. Overall very disappointing will not be back.
The food here is awesome and definitely worth coming for. However, don't put this on your list if you are wanting to get going on your way quickly. We just waited 35 minutes for two bagel sandwiches to go-just a bagel, some egg, and bacon. it appeared that they prioritize their sitting customers over their to-go customers, as many people who sat down after us got their food before us. As I said, the food is amazing but you could make a sandwich at home faster than you could get one from here.
Visited on first day of the summer season. Service was great given there was only one person in the front of house. Food was delicious. I had the biscuits and gravy. Portions were ample and the eggs were perfectly cooked over easy. They are a scratch kitchen and bakery. Awesome.
Locals stop. Small joint, expect slow service when bussy, but well worth it. Best bagels and breakfast in town. Hit it up before you go hit the slopes!
We have been here in the past and it was outstanding. We went again today and boy have things change. The donuts were so grease soaked they were inedible. My friends vegetarian breakfast came out with bacon in it, my sandwich was so salty I couldn’t eat it, and the owner was a huge jerk. This place used to be our favorite, so disappointed that we will never ever go back. Repulsive.
Comfortable bakery/diner with friendly staff. They are open only for breakfast and lunch. The menu looks very appealing but at least for my orders, the ingredients neutralized the other flavors leaving the sandwiches tasting like just eggs. I would not consider it a bad thing as I generally prefer more spices and flavor than most.
When this place was in Nederlamd we thought it was bad and dangerous to ones health. After they left town sticking the young couple that bought it smith numorous unpaid bills, mostly regarding back taxes which led to that poor couples business being shut down until they paid these people's taxes that they owed. I stoped in to see if it was the same place of from the horrible experience I had it was. Steer clear of the grifters!
Due to poor service, left before we could see if the coffee was any good
From the moment we walked in a completely horrible experience. Didn't get greeted, ordered our food at the counter for dine in, and was served in to-go boxes at the table. We had to dump our food out of the box onto the plate....the food was tasteless and overpriced. Overall, two thumbs down and will never go back. Didn't think it was possible to screw up breakfast until today.
Great service and food-especially the baked goods! Very consistent over the years.
Awesome place! This is our 2nd time to stay/ski Winter Park and we've made multiple trips to Rise and Shine for breakfast for eating table-service and picking up to-go orders. Anything baked (bagels, doughnouts, muffins, breads) is to die for and homemade. All their egg dishes and omelettes are cooked perfectly. Nothing to complain about. and friendly staff. Plan to spend AT LEAST one morning here during your trip!
Had a great Lox bagel, and hash for breakfast there with the family. Quaint little diner.
Worst breakfast sandwich ever. $10 after tip, had better at McDonalds. Newsflash to the staff... you will be busy on Sunday, PREPARE.
Love the owners, love the fresh baked goods, love the patio. Great stuff right here guys, great stuff!
Very satisfied with the corned beef (made in house) breakfast and jalapeno bagel (also made in house) with garlic herb spread.
the boston creme doughnut is off the hook. bagel sammys are also pretty solid. the younger staff is legit, but the owner really rubbed me the wrong way. one example- toasted everything bagel with bacon and cream cheese is my jam, i ordered it and he was like "you know we have egg here, right? and turned around and pointed at the menu." I was like "okkkkk I'll still have what i ordered." some people see life through such a narrow lens.
This is the best cafe in town. The recipes are off the hook! Want to get a feel for local flavor? This is it. I come here all the time and love to bring my friends.
Service was really slow and our biscuits and gravy was really dry. Mediocre at best. The chai was really good though. When we told the wait person the food was dry the owner announced to the entire restaurant that our table thought the biscuits and gray was horrible and dry. He tried to embarrass us. Totally unprofessional. I have never experienced a restaurant owner who deliberately tries to alienate his customers. I guess if your not a local your opinion and taste doesn't matter. So tourists beware!
Bad coffee, bagels, and flat out rip off on their "fresh" fruit side. Canned blueberries, a banana, and strawberry for $6. Messed up one of our orders and "had to check that they actually forgot the avocado."The server seemed sincerely embarrassed that she had to do that so I assume it is the manager who was responsible for that.
Large portions. I would not order any of the benedicts. Not good. And they will not split checks for some reason. Don't forget that they have a plating fee
The food can be good at this place, but it's a hit or miss with that. The service, however, is absolutely terrible. I believe it was the owner that was complaining about his staff and his job while being vulgar in front of children. He proceeded to make a scene that was noticed by all patrons as my girlfriend and I were leaving. Very unprofessional.
We had been here before and enjoyed everything about it. Today, unfortunately, was a completely different story. Food was okay, not great, but the bigger problem was with the owner. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS MAN'S BUSINESS! He was yelling at his staff at the top of his lungs in the dining area. Completely humiliating them in already stressful conditions. The owner himself walked out during the breakfast rush because of his dissatisfaction with his crew instead of lending a hand to help. Most patrons were left feeling just as uncomfortable, if not moreso, than his beaten down staff. Some families opted to leave due to his behavior. When the owner returned after his tantrum, he acted as if nothing ever happened! Quite the scene that definitely left a bad taste in our mouths.
Great food! Seems a little run down, but is very nice!
TERRIBLE service. "Waitress" threatened to call the cops for eating our pastries that we BOUGHT on their outdoor tables where no one was sitting or waiting in line for. Nasty nasty girl who needs to smile more because she's an angry girl.
